आपूर्यमाणमचलप्रतिष्ठं समुद्रमापः प्रविशन्ति यद्वत्। तद्वत्कामा यं प्रविशन्ति सर्वे स शान्तिमाप्नोति न कामकामी।।2.70।।
Transliteration
āpūryamāṇam achala-pratiṣhṭhaṁ samudram āpaḥ praviśhanti yadvat tadvat kāmā yaṁ praviśhanti sarve sa śhāntim āpnoti na kāma-kāmī
Translation
As rivers pour into the ocean and it stays full and unmoved, so desires pour into the one who is at peace, and leave them undisturbed. The one who chases desires never finds that peace.

जैसे नदियाँ समुद्र में गिरती रहती हैं और वह भरा-पूरा तथा अडिग रहता है, वैसे ही जो शांत है उसमें इच्छाएँ समाती रहती हैं और उसे विचलित नहीं करतीं। जो इच्छाओं के पीछे भागता है, वह वह शांति कभी नहीं पाता।
